The Division of Psychology at the University of Northampton is looking for a Lecturer in Psychology with an interest in the field of health psychology and/or well being to contribute to our teaching and research activities. The Division currently has four undergraduate degrees accredited by the British Psychological Society (BPS) leading to Graduate Basis for Chartered Membership (GBC) and four Masters programmes. You should be an enthusiastic, committed and highly motivated individual, able and willing to contribute teaching and module leadership on these programmes and to work with others in a collegial, mutually-supportive Division. Our present academic staff are mostly research active with interests across a wide variety of areas. We have research groups within the Psychology Division and many staff are also active in interdisciplinary groups (for Senior Lecturer you should be experienced in some aspects of research/scholarship).
We are seeking a psychologist to teach on a wide range of BPS core modules including either health psychology and/or well being. Some postgraduate teaching and supervision, and the ability to teach undergraduate research methods will be expected. The Division of Psychology is currently adopting a more blended teaching approach, so experience developing and/or delivering blended learning materials is highly desirable. We are also developing courses for an international market, so some experience in working with international partners is welcome.
The successful candidate will have experience of teaching in the HE sector (considerable experience for Senior Lecturer). You should have a relevant degree in psychology (eligible for BPS GBC) and should hold a PhD (or Professional Doctorate). Applicants who are very close to completion of their doctorate may be considered. We anticipate that you will be research active and it would be ideal if you have strong potential to contribute to the next Research Excellence Framework exercise (for Senior Lecturer you should be experienced in some aspects of research/scholarship). Furthermore it would be an advantage if you had research experience in at least one of the following: health psychology, health economics, well being or positive psychology. Furthermore you will also be expected to contribute to other areas of activity in the Faculty of Health and Society.
The Faculty of Health and Society is a new faculty which will contain the following subject areas;
