DEPARTMENT OF PHYSIOLOGY, ANATOMY AND GENETICS, IN ASSOCIATION WITH A TUTORSHIP AND OFFICIAL FELLOWSHIP IN PRE-CLINICAL MEDICINE AT LADY MARGARET HALL
Salary: Grade 10a: £45,562 - £61,179 per annum (plus college housing allowance of £8,115 p.a. and other benefits)
The Department of Physiology, Anatomy and Genetics invites applications for an Associate Professorship ofNeurosciencewith effect from 1 October 2017 or as soon as possible thereafter. This is a joint appointment with Lady Margaret Hall, where the successful candidate will be appointed to a Tutorship and Official Fellowship in Pre-clinical Medicine. The post is offered for five years in the first instance, with reappointment to retirement upon completion of a successful review.
Physiology, Anatomy and Genetics was part of the University of Oxford’s Biological Sciences submission to the Research Excellence Framework that was rated top for its volume of world leading research; and neuroscience is one of the key interests in the Department.The department has been ranked number one in the world for Anatomy & Physiology in the recent Top Universities QS rankings for 2017. The Associate Professor will engage in original and independent research and will be expected to secure research funding and manage research projects. The candidate will help to provide the teaching of neuroscience to pre-clinical students and supervise graduate students in research. College duties will include giving tutorials and small classes to undergraduates, and sharing the responsibility for their academic and pastoral welfare. You will be expected to undertake some administrative duties in both College and Department.
The successful candidate will have a higher degree (DPhil/PhD) in a relevant area of research, a proven track record of success in the award of peer-reviewed research grants, and a strong publication record. You will be able to demonstrate excellence in teaching and supervisionat graduate and undergraduate levels. You will have current independent research funding, and be willing to undertake college and departmental administrative duties.
