Professorship (W3 salary level, tenured) in 'Clinical Psychology and Psychotherapy'


The position will be available at the Georg-Elias-Müller-Institute of Psychology, belonging to the Faculty of Biology and Psychology. Earliest starting date is 1 October 2018.


The University is looking for researchers with an excellent, internationally visible research profile in clinical psychology that fits into the research program of the Institute of Psychology (focusing on basic psychological research in biological psychology, cognition, and social psychology). Applicants should have a proven track-record in acquiring competitive third-party grants.


Teaching responsibilities of the professorship include the entire field of clinical psychology and psychotherapy in the B.Sc. and M.Sc. programs in psychology. In addition, the professorship is responsible for the continuation of the current post-graduate study program ?Psychological Psychotherapy? at the University of Göttingen. Appointments will be made by the university according to the Higher Education Act of Lower Saxony (Niedersächsisches Hochschulgesetz), particularly §25. Further details are given on request.


Applicants should hold a doctoral degree, have an outstanding research and teaching record, and a German approbation as a psychological psychotherapist or equivalent practical qualification.

Applications by advanced junior scientists, and by scientists from foreign countries are explicitly encouraged. The Institute aims for open, transparent and reproducible research, in line with the recent recommendations by the German Society of Psychology (Deutsche Gesellschaft für Psychologie, DGPs). Applicants are asked to outline how they have pursued these goals in the past, and how they plan to do so in the future.
