The successful candidate will play a key role in innovative projects that investigate novel mechanisms underlying the biology of psychotic and affective disorders and evaluate new approaches to treatment.

 

The studies involve the collection of clinical and multimodal neuroimaging data (MRI & PET) from patients, conducting pharmacological challenge studies, and clinical assessment to determine response to treatment, including the role of clozapine and TREAT. Current targets involve the cannabinoid, GABA and serotinergic systems, and mitochondrial function to target cognitive and negative symptoms as well as testing computational models of psychosis.

 

Working closely with the Lead Investigators, the successful candidate will ensure the successful conduct and completion of the research programme. He/she will contribute to the collection and analysis of data, and play a key role in the assessment and monitoring of patients, which will constitute clinical sessions and may count towards training. He/she will also work closely with other research staff in the project and foster
effective collaborative working relationships with the local early intervention services for psychosis. The successful candidate will also be encouraged to develop their own research interests.
The post would be ideal for a clinician with an interest in cutting edge neuroimaging and psychopharmacology. There is potential to develop a project for an MD/ PhD for a suitable candidate.

 

The salary will be paid at Grade Clinical Research, £31,931 to £35,093 per annum, plus £2,162 per annum London Allowance.

 

This post will be Fixed Term Contract for 1 year (with possible extension for PhD).

 

This is a Full Time post – 100% full time equivalent.

 

The selection process will include competency based questions and a panel interview. Interviews are scheduled to be held on the 19th January 2018.
